JOHN McGUINNESS

John McGuinness 100th TT Start Fireblade to star at Motorcycle Live

Honda UK has revealed that a limited-edition Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP celebrating TT legend John McGuinness’s 100th TT start will be on display during Motorcycle Live this November.

This world-exclusive showing will give visitors to the Honda stand at the Birmingham NEC a unique opportunity to see this very special machine, which marks both a century of TT starts for a true Isle of Man great and the 30th anniversary of the iconic Fireblade – in one stunning package.

With a maximum of 30 bikes to be sold worldwide and an OTR price of £30,000, the John McGuinness 100th TT Start Fireblade SP features a specially commissioned replica paint scheme, an airbox cover autographed by the 23-time race winner himself, and an individually numbered plaque on the headstock.

“The Fireblade is an awesome bike and has meant so much to me and many other TT riders over the last 30 years," says John McGuiness MBE. "There is no event like the Isle of Man TT in the world and this motorcycle celebrates Honda’s, and my own part, racing in it.”

Gold detailing mirrors the livery of the history-making Fireblade ridden by John at last June's Isle of Man races TT, while a captivating film-strip depicts all of McPint's starts on the 37 3/4-mile Mountain Circuit. A 35% lighter carbon mudguard and 10% lighter carbon hugger – both Genuine Honda Accessories – reduce weight, and a rear seat cowl and TT-style taller screen complete the road racing look. Fittingly, track-ready Metzeler Racetec RR tyres are installed on gold-striped wheels (with the original rubber also supplied with the bike).

With Honda also celebrating three decades of the Fireblade, the limited-edition special is based on the top-specification 30th Anniversary CBR1000RR-R SP. In addition to the SP model's Öhlins Smart Electronic Control (SE-C), 43mm NPX forks and TT-36 rear shock, and Brembo stoppers, the Anniversary features a ‘Ring of Fire’ screen animation. The bike's serial number is laser-engraved on the top yoke and 30th Anniversary logos are found on the Smart Key and laser-engraved on the Akrapovic muffler, marking the machine’s special place in Honda history.

Each lucky customer will not only receive a custom Fireblade garage mat, a genuine Honda indoor dust cover and a 3D laser-engraved crystal featuring a design of the McGuinness replica, but will also have the opportunity to meet the Morecambe Missile at Honda Racing HQ in Louth for an official handover.

"The stars aligned for me to be back on a Honda Fireblade for my 100th TT start. I’m proud of my connection with its place in TT history and of this, my replica."
John McGuinness

This unique bike will be on display at Motorcycle Live from 19th-27th of November, and the TT legend himself will be on hand for photography and autographs on Sunday 20th. Potential customers are advised to register their interest online, as units are limited to just 30, and demand is expected to be high.
