The Honda NT1100

Raising the Bar

Confirmation of the Honda NT1100’s all-around ability came hot on the heels of its 2022 launch, collecting awards fresh from the crate. One year later, the muscular mile eater became Europe’s most popular sports tourer.

But what made the NT1100 such a hit in such short a time? An engine and frame platform shared with the mighty Africa Twin helped. Yet, the NT1100 is a lot more than the sum of its parts.

For the long haul, the 1100 engine has an abundance of power.  A sporty edge and responsive handling also make light work of meandering back roads. Two-up comfort and useable rider aids complete the package.

This year though, the best gets better. To begin with, the 8-valve twin-cylinder engine’s increase in mid-range power is noticeable. Max torque of 105Nm kicks in at a mere 5,500 rpm to provide effortless overtaking and relaxed cruising power.

Ride-Enhancing Upgrades

Throttle-by-wire engine management and a six-axis IMU form the basis of the new electronics package including cornering ABS. Both features interact with three riding modes (urban, rain and tour). Plus, three levels of power and engine braking for ultimate flexibility.

Mode selection is easy via a 4-way toggle switch on the left bar, with the selection displayed on a full colour 6.5” TFT touchscreen.

Still at the front end, owner feedback is responsible for a new single-handed adjuster for the screen. Meanwhile, the front fairing also gets a makeover. Twin steeply inclined units house LED projector headlights, daytime running lights and indicators in one sleek package. The lighting units complement the fairing's new angular lines.

Rider and pillion comfort are enhanced due to the recontouring of the seat. Meanwhile, the increase in carrying capacity of the detachable panniers now means that each side can take a full-face helmet.

To make life on the long haul easier the NT1100 is available with a host of useful additions as standard fit. These include cruise control, heated grips and ACC plus USB sockets. Moreover, there are self-cancelling indicators, emergency stop alert and a centre stand.

Electronic Suspension Option

The six-axis IMU elevates handling and braking performance noticeably on the manual and DCT versions. The Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), equipped NT1100 is also offered with Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment, EERA.

Showa electronic suspension allows adjustment to the suspension in a super-fast 15 milliseconds. As you can imagine, suspension that reacts to the road conditions as they happen brings an added dimension of comfort and riding enjoyment.

Due to a host of new standard, upgraded and optional equipment the NT1100 means Honda is going to need a much larger trophy cabinet.
