Get the Mow How

With Laura Tobin

Summer has arrived in the UK, and there’s little we love more than sports, garden season and talking about the weather (except perhaps tea). With everyone keen to get outside, it’s never been more important to understand the impact the changing climate is having on our outdoor spaces.

To help us along the way, Honda has joined forces with TV Broadcast Meteorologist Laura Tobin, who will be sharing her expertise, and visiting Britain’s top gardening professionals to get the lowdown on lawn care.

In Part Three of ‘Get The Mow How’, Laura joins Simon Tremlin, Head Groundsman at Wormsley in the Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire. This quintessentially English estate was founded in the late 16th Century and has been home to only two families in its time: the Scropes/Fanes and the Gettys.

Although primarily a private home, Wormsely plays host to a number of events including opera and cricket. It has gained a reputation as ‘one of the most beautiful grounds in England’, welcoming cricketers from around the world to ‘run, field and bowl’. With over 29 years of experience, Simon knows a thing or two about keeping the grounds in pristine condition.

Item 1 of 5

In this episode, Laura and Simon reflect on the frostiest April, and the fourth wettest May since records began. These unexpected turns in the weather mean the team at Wormsley are now three weeks behind schedule. Simon will explain how the grass has been primarily dormant since October, but has now picked up the pace growing quickly in the warmer temperatures that we are now experiencing in June. This is where the Honda Miimo HRM70 has been coming to the rescue, giving them a helping hand with one of the most important, but time consuming jobs – mowing the lawns.

The small but smart robotic Miimo can sense when it needs to go out and cut. It begins by mapping out the entire lawn and calculating its size, then creating a bespoke mowing calendar. The HRM70 can cover up to 700m2 and is IPX4 weatherproof, allowing it to carry on working come rain or shine.

Simon will also be sharing his top tips on everything you need to be doing to keep your lawn looking lush, and how having a Miimo means you can sit back, relax and enjoy your garden this summer.
