In partnership with England Rugby, the Honda Rugby Club recently organised an unforgettable visit from England Rugby Skills and Kicking Coach, Kevin Sinfield, to Fleetwood RUFC in Lancashire.
Kevin’s visit to the club remained a surprise until his arrival. After greeting him in the car park, the club chairs welcomed Kevin into the clubhouse and began telling him more about the club’s history, heritage, and values. Fleetwood RUFC has been running for over 80 years, consisting of both men’s and women’s teams made up from their mini and junior squads, all the way through to their first teams.
With the buzz of excitement in the air, everyone headed outside for the training sessions. Friends and family cheered on from the sidelines as Kevin watched the under 13s and then the men’s first team train, giving them bags of expert tips and motivation. The players gathered round Kevin as he closed each session with some inspirational words to take the players forward into their upcoming matches.
After the training sessions, everyone escaped the rain and returned to the clubhouse in high spirits, where Kevin did a Q&A session for the club. Kevin gave his final advice from the training session, encouraging them to stick together in the spirit of camaraderie. Everyone then had the opportunity to ask him a range of questions and get their rugby balls and shirts signed to remember the incredible day.
